Membership Must Mean Something

Part of the continuing series: The Organization We Are Building

  • Series: The Organization We Are Building

There is nothing wrong with expecting value from membership.

In fact, membership should mean something and leaders must continue exploring ways to add value to membership.

Whether it is Phako Kava, cultural programs, mentorship, networking opportunities, or simply belonging to a community that supports one another, members should feel that there is value in belonging.

But membership is also a partnership.

Membership should provide value.

Membership should also create value.

Every organization depends on people who choose to participate rather than simply observe.

Participation in FA is more than paying membership dues.

It is taking an interest in the organization.

It is staying informed.

It is supporting programs that strengthen the community.

It is contributing, in whatever way we can, to the success of the organization.

Perhaps that is the real meaning of membership.

Not only what we receive from the organization.

But also what we help the organization become.
